June 1, 2007:

Have a safe and wonderful summer! The 2007-2008 school year starts on Wednesday, July 25th. Meet the teacher will be Tuesday, July 24th from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

May 29, 2007:

The Queen of Mean is holding report cards of children who have overdue library books. She appreciates all of you who checked in with her on Friday at the talent show. She is proud of all of you who have found or paid for your children's books. We have 60 students with overdue books. We have 90 books overdue. That is about $1500 worth of books.

Please, please, please check the lost and found. We have 141 items in our lost and found. They belong to children in our building. We will give everything in the lost and found away at the beginning of June.

Have your children read this summer every day. Here is our summer challenge: If our students collectively read 100,000 pages by August 6th, Ms. Hiltz, Mr. Kenjarski and Ms. Martin will sleep on the roof.

We would love for you to be involved in the Frolic, and we are having a few summer planning meetings at school in the library: June 1st, June 14th, & July 19th. The meetings start at noon. You may bring your children. If you can't come to any of those meetings but would still like to be involved, that's great!!! We'll see you when school starts.

Remember, summer sales are a great time to pick up auction items and things for your classroom basket. Kindergarten's theme is Family Fun Night. 1st grade's theme is Arts and Crafts. 2nd grade's theme is Gardening. 4th grade's theme is Outdoor Fun. 3rd and 5th grades are going to create something wonderful and artistic for the auction.

Please put September 14, 2007 on your calendars for The Frolic.
We are looking for someone to organize and operate a photo booth for the event--take pictures in front of some cute backdrop/scenery and print the pictures right then.

As you are shopping over the summer you might want to pick up a few items for your grade's basket:
Kindergarten's theme is Family Fun night. Items include movies, games, popcorn, puzzles, balls, craft projects, music, cards....
1st grade's theme is arts and crafts. Items might include bead kits, paint, interesting markers, groovy paper, scrapbooking stuff, craft kits.....
2nd grade's theme is gardening. Items might include spades, seeds, bulbs, trowels, kneeling pads, watering cans, a wheelbarrow, a bird house....
3rd graders will be making an art project for the Frolic this year.

5th graders will be making an art project for the Frolic.

Thank you to everyone who helped us proctor for the EOGs last week. It's a stressful week for our children. We appreciate your support.

May 1, 2007:

Fifth graders will be taking the reading field test this Thursday, May 3rd. It takes ALL morning. They will begin at 8:45 and will finish at 11:30. Because their testing overlaps lunch, we will not have kindergarten, first or second graders eat lunch in the cafeteria. These children will be eating in their classrooms. We are ordering bag lunches as the only choice for K-2 lunch buyers on Thursday. The sandwich is peanut butter and jelly. K-2 children will not be able to purchase juice, snacks, or ice cream on Thursday. If you can help with K-2 lunch in your child's classroom on Thursday, the teachers would really appreciate it. If your K-2 child will not eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and chips, please pack his/her lunch on Thursday. We will separate children with peanut allergies from the peanut butter sandwich eaters. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your help.

Field Day is on Friday at Fletcher Park! Kindergarten, first and second grades will participate in the morning from 9-11. Third, fourth and fifth grades will participate from 12:10-2:10. We will all eat a picnic lunch together from 11-12 at Partnership. Please join us. It is such fun. If it is raining on Friday, we have a make up day scheduled for Friday, May 11. We will decide by Thursday evening whether to postpone Field Day. We will send an e-mail and a phone message letting you know.

All library books are due on May 18.

April 16, 2007:

Office helpers are needed until the end of the school year . If you are good at answering the phone and taking messages, running errands in the building, and have good people skills, please consider volunteering. The busiest times of the day are 8:00-10:00 am and 2:00-3:00 pm. Please see Mary Hartshorn or Pam Feamster to schedule your office volunteer time. Thank you!

There is a general meeting of the PTA on Thursday night starting at 6 pm. We will be electing officers for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Kindergarten and 1st grade are performing. We look forward to seeing you there.

April 11, 2007:

Welcome back to the last 36 days of school!!! We hope you all enjoyed your break, and that your children are ready to read, write and learn these last 7 weeks.

Over break we had our parking lot re-paved and re-striped. For the safety of our children, we have blocked off an area next to the multipurpose room on the Devereux Street side. We ask that you who walk up to get your children at the end of the day stay in this area. This will help us to make sure that all children are leaving safely with the correct people. Thank you.

Planting Day is this Saturday, April 14, from 8am-12pm. We will be spreading mulch, planting spring flowers and beautifying our campus. Please come, bring your children, and help us dig in the dirt. Stay for an hour or stay all morning. If you are thinning your hostas or other plants, we would love to plant them at school. We always appreciate donations of plants and flowers for our campus. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

March 23, 2007:

Enjoy your spring break! Partnership will be back in session on Tuesday April 10th.

March 16, 2007:

Yesterday your child probably came home and told you about the fire alarm at afternoon dismissal. The cause of the alarm was a smoke detector malfunction. The smoke detector was fixed yesterday after school.

Next week Partnership will enjoy the final week before track out with a Spirit Week. Each day will have its own theme:

Monday - Wear your favorite color from head to toe.
Tuesday - Dress like your favorite teacher.
Wednesday - Wear clothing that shows your favorite team.
Thursday - Come to school with crazy hair.
Friday - Wear Partnership Elementary clothing.

Partnership's PTA Presents:
Science Exploration Day
Partnership is ready to bring Science Down to Earth! On Tuesday, March 21st, all Partnership students will be participating in Partnership's first Science Exploration Day. From 9:00 am - 11:00 am, students will be investigating science labs led by volunteers and science leaders in our community. Experiments and labs will be age and curriculum appropriate for each grade level. Science Exploration Day is this year's PTA Spring Fundraiser! Students have been seeking monetary donations through the use of a mailer. So far, we are on target for meeting our goal! The money raised makes it possible for the Partnership PTA to bring unique experiences like this to our school. We want to send out a big thank you to all Partnership partners who have helped us in this endeavor! Get ready, the countdown to launch is on!

March 9, 2007:

Class pictures will be taken on Thursday March 15. You must pay for the class picture ahead of time if you want one.
We had a really wonderful treat on Tuesday. Katherine Hannigan, author of Ida B, came and talked with our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders about her life and her book. Katherine is a good story teller and she told us tales of her animals and of her life in Iowa. She helped illustrate to our students that you can take a moment, a snapshot, and make a story from it. We are fortunate to have had this author at our school courtesy of the fine booksellers at Quail Ridge Books.
Last Saturday we had 4 teams from Partnership compete in the Odyssey of the Mind regional competition. Their performances were terrific. They have been practicing for this competition since October, and their teamwork showed. We are very proud of these fourth and fifth graders.
Mark your calendars for Planting day on April 14 from 8-12. We will be beautifying our campus and planting spring flowers.
We have 2 more weeks left in our spring fundraiser. So far we have raised $10,800. We are SOOOOO close. Science Exploration Day is March 21 from 9-11.

February 21, 2007:

We want to give you an update on our spring fundraiser. So far we have raised $5200 toward our goal of $12,000.

22-3rd graders have participated
26-4th graders have participated
29-5th graders have participated

We are writing the children's names on the library board as they turn their mailer envelopes and donations in. The board is getting FULL. We love that teamwork. It takes everyone's participation to make this fundraiser successful. Please donate what you can so the PTA can continue to buy books for the library, pay for lunch for children who forget their lunch money, and provide plays, speakers, and presenters to enhance our children's education. Thank you.

Team Mercury will be selling doughnuts on Friday morning in the carpool line to raise money for their class gift. They only have 80 dozen doughnuts, so get there early. Doughnuts are $5.00/box.

Please send in all your Boxtops by Friday. We have to turn them in to General Mills by February 28th. Each Boxtop is worth 10 cents for our school. So far this school year we have earned $515 by collecting Boxtops for Education.

February 14, 2007:

As of Tuesday afternoon, 76 students have participated in our spring fundraiser. They have either made a donation or addressed envelopes to mail out to family and friends....or both!!! We hope you all will make a contribution to Partnership to help make our Science Exploration and all the other programs the PTA offers a success for our children. Our net goal for this fundraiser is $12,000. We have raised $2800 so far. We need everyone's participation to ensure that we meet that goal. Addressed envelopes are due on Friday, February 16. Thank you for helping us.

Are you a parent who sits in the carpool line every morning from 7:30-8:00??? Are you a parent who gets to school for afternoon carpool at 2:30? Wow, we could help you use that time wisely. We need some volunteers!! Kindergarten needs volunteers to help with Friday folders every week. 2nd grade needs volunteers to make copies every week. The library needs volunteers to shelf books, tape book covers, and tidy the room every day. Some grades need help with centers, other grades need help during literacy and math times. Please talk with your child's teachers and find out how you can help in the classroom. It takes all of us to educate our children.
