Carpool
Carpool students
arriving for the regular school day will enter via Wills Forest Street
to Boylan Avenue then Devereux Street. Proceed to the designated
drop off area. Please stay in a single line and follow the directions
of the adults on duty. All drivers should drive slowly and allow
ample time for picking up children. We all must focus on student
safety. Do not park across the street from the carpool line or drop
off students who then need to cross the street. Do not drop students
off in the parking lot unsupervised. Students may only be picked
up in the carpool area. To pickup students in the carpool line you
MUST have a Partnership Elementary carpool sign. If you do not have
this sign you must come inside the school, show your picture id and
sign out the child. Please do not park in the carpool line before
2:30 p.m. Students must be picked up by 3:15 p.m. If you arrive after
3:15 p.m., your child will be taken to the classroom of the teacher
on duty that day and you must come in and sign out your child in
the late sign-out log.

Field
Trips
Field trips
are designed as educational experiences for students at Partnership Elementary.
They meet curriculum needs at each grade level. Field trips are an extension
of the classroom into the community. They are an excellent opportunity
for all students to experience the rich community in which they live.
If you plan to volunteer for a field trip, you will need to make other
arrangements for younger siblings and provide your own transportation.
Volunteers
All families attending Partnership Elementary
are expected to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours a month for the school.
It is our expectation that when you cannot fulfill your commitment
to an activity you make every effort to get another parent to cover
your absence. Volunteering at Partnership Elementary is a critical
part of our community and the day-to-day operations of the school.
It is essential that all parents volunteer. Partnership Elementary
has many different ways for you to volunteer. If you need ideas about
volunteering, you may contact a classroom teacher, a senior partner,
or a member of the PTA board. We have volunteer opportunities during
the instructional day and after school hours. If you are serving with
direct responsibility for a group of children, you need to make other
arrangements for all younger siblings. All volunteers must register
with the WCPSS Volunteer Registration Program prior to volunteering.
This may be done on any school computer. Please note: You must register
each year even if you registered last year. Parents who are volunteering
need to respect the privacy and confidentiality of all Partnership
students.
All parents MUST come through the front lobby to sign-in and receive
a badge prior to volunteering. Volunteers should sign-in and
sign-out using
the School Check-In Computer in the lobby. Do not open side doors for
people to enter the building. Instead, direct them to the office
for check-in.
This is for the safety of all of our students.
Food
Services
Students planning to eat school-prepared food may prepay to cover the
cost. In the memo section of your
check
please indicate the lunch account number and whether the money is for
lunch or snacks or both. You may also prepay using www.myLunchMoney.com
or call 800.479.3531. In order to enroll for this service, you will need
your child's ID or NCWISE number.
Lunch
Costs:
Student:
$1.75 ($0.40 reduced rate)
Milk: $0.50
Snacks $.25-$.75
Adult: a la Carte
Breakfast
Costs:
Student:
$0.80 ($0.30 reduced rate)
Adults: a la Carte
If you pack
a bag lunch, please include fruit juice instead of sodas. Also, do not
send in any glass containers or bottles, as they are safety hazards. We
ask that you not bring in food from an outside source (ex. Wendy's, McDonald's,
etc.) for you or your child to eat during the lunch period.
Parents
are
welcome to join their child(ren) for lunch on any school day. Questions
about lunch accounts or general food service may be directed
to Amelia Evans at 856.7731.
Homework
Homework should be a part of the instructional experiences of each student.
We feel that it is a purposeful continuation or extension of the instructional
program to be accomplished by the student outside the regular classroom
setting. Each grade level will publicize their homework policy in mid-August.
We believe that daily homework times should follow the research-based guidelines of 20 minutes per day in kindergarten through second grade and 50 minutes per day for third through fifth grade.
Each student
spends a major part of the weekday in class. Since there are other valuable
experiences to be gained outside of school, homework shall be carefully
planned regarding its purpose, appropriateness, and timeliness.
Inclement
Weather
Now is the time to plan with your child what to do in case of early dismissal.
Some children become very concerned if their usual patterns are disrupted.
Alternate arrangements must be made in advance. We do not have adequate
phones to deal with a large number of students that need immediate directions
home. You will receive an Inclement Weather Form to document your family's
plans that will need to be returned to school.
The radio
and television stations will announce all WCPSS school closings, late
openings, or early closings. If it begins to snow or sleet or if there
appears the possibility of strong wind, please listen to the radio or
TV for early school closings. If the opening of school is to be delayed,
announcements will be made by 6:00 a.m. on local radio and TV. If necessary,
our inclement weather days will be determined by the Wake County School
Board.
Lost
and Found
Please put name labels on students' personal belongings. These markings
will help school personnel to locate lost items. Do not allow your child(ren)
to bring extra money, valuable items, toys, trading cards,
radios,
electronic toys or sports equipment unless prior written approval has
been given
by the child's teacher. We will not assume responsibility for the security
of such items.
A lost and
found box will be placed in the school for clothing found on campus. If
your child has lost an item, please encourage them to check this box .
Clothing and other items not claimed by the end of each semester will
be donated to charity.
